The MIN Forum is a new central building for the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences on the Bundesstraße Campus of the University of Hamburg. The project comprises two interconnected buildings with a gross floor area of around 42,000 m². One section is classified as a high-rise building; both structures are connected by a shared basement. Overall, it is a public building.
The main user is the University of Hamburg. In addition to traditional laboratory areas, two robotics rooms – a cave lab and a sound lab – were created. There are seven lecture halls for up to 500 listeners and numerous seminar rooms. In addition, a 1,200 m² canteen was built on the ground floor of building section A. The library extends over several floors from the second to the sixth floor.
The technical pre-installation for a new data centre provided by the user – particularly with regard to cooling capacity and supply security – was carried out as part of the construction project.
The MIN Forum is centrally located with direct access to the Schlump underground station.
