Topping-out ceremony for the “coop Stammhaus Quartier” in Kiel

On September 16, 2025, Coop eG celebrated the topping-out ceremony for the Coop headquarters quarter in Kiel Gaarden with approximately 300 guests.

This is an important milestone in the development of the quarter with approximately 33,000 m² of gross floor area.

The structural work is being carried out on behalf of Coop eG by a joint venture (ARGE) in cooperation with Richard Ditting GmbH & Co. KG and OTTO WULFF Bauunternehmung GmbH.

In typical North German rainy weather, but with an all the more cheerful mood, the ARGE announced the topping-out ceremony. The Board of Coop eG thanked everyone involved and emphasized the importance of being able to return to the new premises at the traditional location on Soerensenstraße in Kiel as a cooperative.

By the end of 2026, five building complexes for residential, office, and commercial space, including a daycare center, a grocery store with access to underground parking spaces, as well as medical practices and assisted living areas, will be built on the site. DGNB Gold certification is being sought. Furthermore, sustainability and resource-efficient implementation will be emphasized with the implementation of extensively landscaped courtyards, a sustainable energy supply, and the installation of photovoltaic systems.

Athleticum am Volkspark successfully completed

A modern centre for sports medicine, prevention and exercise in Hamburg.

The Athleticum am Volkspark, situated in the immediate vicinity of the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg-Bahrenfeld, is a modern centre of excellence for holistic exercise, sports and preventive medicine. Set on a plot of around 3,600 m², the three-storey new building, with a gross floor area of approximately 5,200 m², combines medical care, rehabilitation and performance-oriented training of the highest standard.

The health centre sets new standards in the care of patients who are active in sport. In addition to state-of-the-art diagnostics and innovative therapeutic programmes, highly specialised training facilities are available. These include, amongst other things, a spacious training area and a running track running across the roof, which creates unique training conditions. A particular highlight is the ‘SwimEx’, a dynamic exercise pool which is the only one of its kind in Germany and opens up new possibilities for therapy, rehabilitation and athletic training.

Architecturally, the building, designed by Spine Architects, impresses with its generous glass façades, clean lines and a dynamic design that emphasises the centre’s sporting character. The Athleticum is operated by Athleticum am Volkspark GmbH, a joint venture between the University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), Philips and CTP.BIZ.
