MIN Forum Hamburg Handed Over: A Milestone for Teaching and Research
After several years of project management by VITZTHUM, the new university building for the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Natural Sciences was handed over to the users in March 2026.
What a project journey: As early as November 2022, we were able to report here that the structural work had been completed well ahead of schedule. Now comes the most rewarding milestone a construction project can achieve—in March 2026, the MIN Forum Hamburg was handed over to the users. We are currently in the process of a structured project closure.
The MIN-Forum is a modern building complex for the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Natural Sciences. Two interconnected structures, spanning approximately 43,300 m² of gross floor area, combine lecture halls, seminar rooms, a library, and a cafeteria within a clearly structured architectural design. A spacious foyer connects the various areas and creates space for interaction and events.
The technical requirements were demanding: The seven lecture halls, in particular, placed high demands on construction, acoustics, media technology, and the quality of the environment—met through numerous custom designs, ranging from the grandstand systems with seating developed specifically for the project to acoustically effective wall and ceiling cladding made of real birch veneer.
VITZTHUM joined the project at the end of the planning phase and took over traditional project management in accordance with AHO from that point until project completion—through construction preparation, the entire construction process, and now project completion. Joining an ongoing project of this magnitude in particular requires a quick, structured onboarding process—which is why we are all the more pleased that we were able to manage the project through all subsequent phases on schedule, right up to its successful handover.

The May 50K: VITZTHUM team achieves a strong result for MS research
Setting goals, working together to pursue them and achieving them successfully – this applies to us not only in our project work. In May, the VITZTHUM team took part in the international charity challenge ‘The May 50K’, racking up kilometres and raising funds for multiple sclerosis research.
In this campaign, participants set themselves the goal of covering at least 50 kilometres over the course of May by running, walking, cycling or swimming. At the same time, they raise funds for the German Multiple Sclerosis Society and international MS research.
For our team, we had set ourselves a collective target of 1,000 kilometres. We had already reached 500 kilometres after just four days. By the end of the challenge, the result had far exceeded our expectations: VITZTHUM came 12th in Germany in terms of kilometres covered and 15th in terms of donations raised.
Through our involvement, we wanted to contribute to research into multiple sclerosis. This chronic condition is not yet curable, but treatment is improving all the time. The donations collected as part of the campaign support national and international research projects.
We would like to thank all our colleagues who clocked up kilometres, raised donations and supported the campaign. We would also like to thank all our supporters who have contributed to this shared success.
The result shows what can be achieved with team spirit, commitment and a shared goal. We are already looking forward to the next challenge.
20 years of exceptional projects – 20 years of ensuring project success
On 21 April 2026, we had the pleasure of celebrating a special anniversary: for 20 years, we have been supporting challenging property and construction projects through our project and technical asset management services, helping to bring complex undertakings to a successful conclusion.
Even in our early years as a company, we were able to play a part in projects that were truly special. These include, for example, the Nordex wind turbine factory in Rostock and the Arctic Sea enclosure at Hagenbeck Zoo in Hamburg – two projects that to this day stand for innovation, courage and technical pioneering spirit. The latest highlight in this series of extraordinary projects is the MIN Forum and Department of Computer Science at the University of Hamburg. We took on this project, with a gross floor area of around 46,000 m², in the summer of 2022 and saw it through to the scheduled start of academic operations on 30 March 2026. Today, it offers students, researchers and lecturers a modern space for knowledge, exchange and ideas for the future.
What has shaped us over the past 20 years? Our commitment to finding the best solution for every challenge, our enthusiasm for complex projects and, above all, the people who have journeyed alongside us. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to our clients, business partners and colleagues for their trust, constructive collaboration and shared commitment. Many of our successes would not have been possible without these strong partnerships. We look forward to the next exciting projects, new challenges and the continuation of many successful collaborations.
